The usually active and noisy Main Street was oddly quiet as Katie and Kayla walked around what seemed the endless block, trying to find something to do. After minutes of deciding which street to take, they decided to walk on the little one way lane behind Angus's house. Kayla's uncle, Steve, who lived directly behind Angus, had his light blue Scion parked in front of his mustard yellow house. "Oh, Uncle Steve." she said, leaning on the passenger's side of his box-shaped car. "Hey look!" Katie called, pointing to the mound of untouched rolled ciggarettes laying next to the car. Kayla bent down to inspect them. "They're definitley my Uncle Steve's. He rolls his own." she said, as she picked them up. "Let's go find someone to give them to." They were halfway down the side street leading back to Main, when an idea sparked in Katie's head. "I just saw Chris, let's give them to him!" They casually rounded the corner to find Chris seated on the apartment stoop. Katie ran over to him with the handful of ciggarettes and put them in his hands. "Merry Christmas." Chris eyed the ciggarettes in his hand and smiled. "Hey, thanks, Kate!" he beamed, stuffing them in his pocket, and running inside his apartment to find a lighter to light up.
10 minutes later, Katie's sister Erin and Aunt Danielle came out of Katie's grandmother's house carrying a metal cabinet. "Does CJ want this?" Erin asked Katie, plopping the cabinet in the grass and pointing to Chris's house. "Hold on, I'll ask him!" Katie said, running over to where Chris was standing outside of his brick porch. Seconds later, he had the cabinet on his back, holding it by his two muscular arms. Katie snatched Kayla's phone to snap pictures to send to his girlfriend Kaitlynn. She hit 'send' with a wink. "She'll love that." she said with a smile.
By the time it got dark out, both Katie and Kayla were ultimately bored, so they decided to walk to the other side of town, where Katie lived, Washington Street. As they neared the first intersection, they heard footsteps coming from one of the horizontal streets. "Who's that?" Kayla asked in curiousity. Katie peered up the hill leading to her house. "Nobody coming this way." She said. "I guess it was nothing." Kayla said with a shrug. As they began to cross the street, Chris rounded the corner, staring at them for 5 seconds before walking on up the hill. "Hmm.." Kayla said. "That was interesting." Once they got back to Main Street, they saw a shadowy figure on the other side of the highway towards Washington Street. Once the figure stepped into the glow of the streetlight, they realized it was Chris again. As soon as he saw Katie and Kayla, he awkwardly turned a different direction. "Stalker..."Katie whisphered in a hushed tone. Just when they thought that Chris had veered off in the opposite direction, they discovered him again, walking across the Memorial Garden bridge. "That's it." Kayla huffed under her breath, speedily walking towards her house. Katie followed close in tow. "Someone is definitley stalking us." He turned around to smile, and kept walking, but Katie and Kayla didn't even notice.
